Situated in a tranquil location in the Kent countryside, this project involved bespoke alterations and extensions to transform a traditional rural detached house in a contemporary style.
A staircase, which is framed by dramatic glazing to one side, leads up to the house’s five bedrooms. Downstairs, the kitchen leads through to a structural glazed link that acts as a transitional point between the existing building and its extensions to a wholly new building.
This new element, which houses a swimming pool, is more contemporary in design, and employs green oak cladding and flush lead detailing to create a new style that ties in with the existing house. This new pool building combines with the existing dwelling to frame a secure south-facing courtyard which acts as an ‘outdoor room’.
