GHA successfully obtained detailed planning consent for a total of 69 residential units comprising of 29 houses; 40 apartments; a new fishmongers building and 9 no. fisherman’s huts. This scheme is currently under construction for our developer client Kentish Projects.
The architectural theme for the scheme is one of ‘contemporary vernacular’, i.e. a contemporary design approach using vernacular building forms such as the pitched roof form of the fisherman’s huts. The scheme aims to achieve a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 for the private housing type and Level 4 for the affordable housing type, a standard well in excess of that required by current legislation.
The new dwellings use a material palette including timber cladding, brickwork, render, powder-coated aluminium frame windows and slate roof tiles.
