Athletics Track for Three Hills Sports Park, Folkestone

Guy Hollaway Architects are delighted to announce that the planning application for an 8 lane athletics running track and field events has been unanimously granted approval at Folkestone and Hythe Planning Committee.

Our design for the athletics running track and field events will complete the Three Hills Sports Park development, which is the culmination of over ten years' work between the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust, the Cheriton Road Sports Ground Trust, and Folkestone and Hythe District Council to develop the site into a centre of excellence for Sport.

The new additional facility will contain spectator seating leading to a pavilion comprised of two timber-clad pavilions, which accommodate changing rooms and a multifunction room and kitchenette. The floodlit track will host training events and competitions and will be open to running clubs, as well as pay and play users, which will benefit and encourage users of all ages and abilities to use the new amenities.

Michelle Earnshaw of Guy Hollaway Architects says 'the athletics track is the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle for the Three Hills Sports Park which increases the opportunity to connect schools, sports clubs and the community of Shepway with a purpose; to inspire all generations to lead healthy and active lifestyles'
