GHA Wins Chatham Maritime Design Competition

Guy Hollaway Architects have won an invited design competition, under the leadership of Matt Whitby (Senior Partner), for a new watersports centre in the heart of the historic Chatham Maritime Docks. The new facility would cater for existing watersports users, and the general public, by supporting and expanding upon the existing watersports facilities currently operating within the historic dock basins.

GHA have been selected as the successful architectural Practice having competed against a total of eight architectural and design practices. Our winning concept design for the new watersports building, which perches on the basin edge and reflects the heritage of the dock setting through its choice of black boarding and sensitive incorporation of the existing mooring bollards, will be developed to facilitate pre-application discussions with Medway City Council. The project is being undertaken for the Chatham Maritime Trust.
