GHA secures Rendezvous bid

We are pleased to announce a successful outcome of our bid to design an 80 bed hotel on the Rendezvous Site in Margate for our clients, Kent County Council. Located in a prominent coastal location between the Winter Gardens and the Turner Contemporary Gallery, the site offers the opportunity to contribute to the wider regeneration of Margate and embrace the sites changing weather conditions and dramatic setting.

Steeped in history, the site was once occupied by the Marine Palace and Baths, creating a desirable seaside location in which people from all over the UK would visit. With the Baths destroyed in the storm of November 1897, the site is currently used as a car park and succumbs to regular overtopping of the seawall. Our proposal will seek to transform the site and restore it to it's former glory, renewing the vibrant and active atmosphere that was once a prominent feature of this British coastline.

The outline application will see designs for a hotel and restaurant with the creation of 21st Century beach huts and leisure facilities also on site. It will provide much needed bed spaces following the success of the Turner Contemporary Gallery which attracted 500,000+ visitors last year and the upcoming opening of Dreamland in early 2014. We look forward to updating you on our progress as the project develops.
