Greenwich Council approves Eltham Cinema
Eltham Town Centre Cinema creates an innovative and bold design response, creating a high profile development of a prominent area to be a positive catalyst for the wider regeneration of Eltham’s Town Centre. The proposed development will accommodate a six screen cinema and public foyer, two ground floor restaurants and a first floor mixed-use commercial unit.
The scheme will promote regeneration in all respects. The development would support RBG’s Growth Strategy by kick-starting the development of a key part of Eltham High Street, which in turn will increase the footfall and enhance and diversify the town centre offer. It will also meet a number of key objectives in the Eltham Masterplan, including the expansion of restaurants and cafes in the town centre, enhancement of the evening economy and the creation of better public spaces.
The proposal will represent a substantial gain in employment in comparison with the existing site use, even before consideration of the associated regeneration benefits for the town centre generally and wider employment stimulus.
