Canterbury Student Lets; Hewitt Site Goes To Public Consultation
A Public Consultation event for our Hewitt Site project will take place this week on Wednesday 6th April, between 1pm - 7pm, at the Westgate Hall in Canterbury.
Canterbury Student Living have commissioned GHA to develop and submit a detailed planning application for 153 purpose built student accommodation units to be built on the Hewitt Site, located off Rhodaus Town in the heart of Canterbury.
The proposed new city centre student accommodation complex offers the opportunity to deliver 153 self-contained apartments over 6 floors. The scheme also includes study, leisure and games areas at ground floor level, with an outside cycle storage and a landscaped courtyard garden. Below ground level will see a small cinema, a gym and laundry facilities.
Positioned on the outskirts of Canterbury’s city walls these proposed high quality student studios boast excellent public transport connections and access to local amenities. The site is within a 5 minute walk to Augustine House Library, Canterbury East station, Canterbury Bus station and stops, various super markets, a cinema plus many more high street shops, bars and restaurants.
The scheme is the last to come forward, following our success at securing planning consent on the former Peugeot site which is now under construction, as part of the St. George’s to Canterbury East Station Regeneration Zone of which the wider area has been identified in the Canterbury City Council Rhodaus Town Development Brief (Nov 2011) as being suitable for mixed use development including offices, retail, leisure, hotels, cultural facilities, education, student accommodation and housing.
