Palamon Court - Luxury Student Accommodation for Canterbury
Located at the heart of historic Canterbury, ‘Palamon Court’, situated on Rhodaus Town, provides brand new bespoke luxury student accommodation.
Working alongside our client, Guy Hollaway Interiors has produced a creative and inspiring design for a multi-purpose communal space and self-contained apartments to house 539 students.
The desire was to create a home away from home environment providing students with a stimulating and stylish escape away from the bustle of university life.
The communal floor has been divided into several visually connecting ‘zones’ - glass fronted meeting pods, oversized dividers and large furniture items have been used to define work and social areas. The zones successfully blur the boundaries between work and play to offer an informal and interactive atmosphere.
The design incorporates an industrial yet homely style throughout; exposed concrete columns and ceilings are combined with herringbone flooring, character oak desks and slatted timber to create a functional yet cosy space. Each ‘zone’ has its own identity - a traditional library-like feel with leather chairs and oak table tops in the focus study areas; a film-set quality with eclectic furniture and oversized light pendants and ornaments to mute sound in the social study areas; and a graphic colour scheme with a theatrical touch in the social area.
Palamon Court offers a range of high-end studio and en-suite rooms finished in a neutral colour palette. Each self-contained apartment facilitates a high-spec handle-less kitchen with units to co-ordinate throughout, and a dining and study area.
The scheme also provides a cinema, games room with ping pong tables, an interactive ipad wall, and a communal dining area with a high specification kitchen where space can be hired to eat and cook. A gym boasting amazing views looking out over the Canterbury city wall and a landscaped courtyard with lush green grass and a seating area can also be enjoyed.
Positioned on the outskirts of Canterbury’s city walls this luxury student accommodation boasts excellent public transport connections and access to local amenities. The site is within a 5 minute walk to Augustine House Library, Canterbury East station, Canterbury Bus station and stops, various super markets, a cinema plus many more high street shops, bars and restaurants. Canterbury is home to approximately 28,000 students and to both Canterbury Christ Church University and the University of Kent.
