The Fisheries in Hackney submits for planning!

Guy Hollaway Architects has submitted a planning application for a new build, mixed-used commercial and residential development in the centre of Hackney, a stones throw from London Fields Park.

The proposed development is for 31 luxury residential units, orientated to maximise views to London Fields Park, and 1750sqm of B1 commercial space arranged over the ground, first and basement levels.

A warehouse style building on site will be integrated into the scheme, creating a continuation of the existing street scape in both scale and materiality. A dark mesh skin on the upper residential floors creates a semi-permeable layer between public and private, providing increased natural lighting without compromising privacy.

The building has been designed to maximise the space, making it suitable for optimising natural light, and incorporates double height volumes within the commercial provision. Floor to ceiling windows allow light to penetrate deep into the internal spaces, encouraged further by voids cut in strategic locations.

A flexible layout and designated 'break out' spaces in the commercial areas aim to encourage innovative thinking in an unrestricted work environment. A neutral material pallet with high architectural quality provides a blank canvas for creativity.
